Sunday 34th in Ordinary Time: The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (A)
Gospel text
Mt 25:31-46
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats..."
Gospel's Commentary
Today, Jesus shows us that the meaning of royalty is service to others. He affirmed Himself that he was Master and Lord, and also that he was King, but he exercised his royalty by washing feet and shedding his Blood. Jesus Christ reigns first from a humble cradle (a manger!) And later from a very uncomfortable throne (the Cross!). - There is the royalty of Christ: the triumph of love. In the Final Judgment the last word will have the love - or the “lack of love” - of each one. Guaranteed by Jesus Christ!
