Gospel text
Mt 21:33-43.45-46
“There was a landowner who planted a vineyard (…), leased it to tenants and went on a journey. When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned."
Gospel's Commentary
Today the parable is addressed to the priests and important people in Israel. They themselves are the laborers in the vineyard, that is to say the shepherds of the people that the Owner Himself (God) has entrusted to their care. They have killed one prophet after another. -Now the Owner sends His own Son… They will kill Him! And we are talking about the Christ, the Son of God!
