Liturgical day: Saturday 5th of Easter

Gospel text (Jn 15,18-21): «If they persecuted me, they will persecute you, too». Jesus said to his disciples, «If the world hates you, remember that the world hated me before you. This would not be so if you belonged to the world, because the world loves its own. But you are not of the world since I have chosen you from the world; because of this the world hates you. Remember what I told you: the servant is not greater than his master; if they persecuted me, they will persecute you, too. Have they kept my teaching? Will they then keep yours? All this they will do to you for the sake of my name because they do not know the One who sent me».

Today, Jesus Christ warns us about the difficulties of following Him. He asks us for a love of charity, that is, the same love with which God loves us: total respect for all people, wherever they may be, without excluding anyone. Faced with the demands of this "new love", Jesus suffered the opposition of many who did not understand him.

— Is there anything like "a sluggish love"? Those who lead a life of "tranquility", without any engagements, doing only what they want, cannot endure authentic, demanding love. Perhaps, there will be times when you will have to suffer the scorn of those "self-indulgent" elements.
