Gospel text
Lk 11:29-32
“This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah."
Gospel's Commentary
Today, Jesus Christ unveils His resurrection using the image of Jonah. God “led” this prophet to Nineveh “travelling” for three days inside a big fish. When some people asked Christ to perform a miracle to demonstrate His divinity, He answered by reminding them about the figure of Jonah… -Jesus is God: He is no magician! The great sign of redemption is something that no wizard will ever perform. Like Jonah, Jesus Christ was three days under the surface (buried) and then, He rose, He resurrected: that is God’s ultimate sign.
