The Most Holy Name of Jesus

Fr. Antoni CAROL i Hostench (Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain)

Today, we honor the "Most Holy Name of Jesus". Like this, in capital letters: it's no wonder! We must treat as a sacred reality (holy) every personal name, and propose -with the tongue- to be there most respectful.

It is proper and must be treated properly the name of each person, because "person" means "unrepeatable human being", unique, totally original ... The spiritual dimension makes us totally unique. The Christian faith still adds a more definitive motive: God loves every human being by himself and in himself; every man, every woman is worth all the Blood of Christ, a Blood that also dyes our names.

If every proper name deserves a sacred respect, much more the Name of the "Saint of the saints". But, how many times have we mistreated the Name of God! How many blasphemies! Not in vain in the "Our Father" Jesus moves us to supplicate "hallowed be thy name".

-In the "Magnificat" -excellent example of prayer-, Holy Mary confesses to the Almighty "whose name is Holy". This confession was not accidental!
