Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
Gospel text
Mk 4,35-41
As Jesus awoke, He rebuked the wind and ordered the sea, «Quiet now! Be still!». The wind dropped and there was a great calm. Then Jesus said to them, «Why are you so frightened?».
Gospel's Commentary
Today we are sailing with Jesus and the Apostles. There is a storm at sea; strong winds, big waves. Jesus is sleeping; we are scared: it looks like the boat can sink at any moment. And then we think of awakening the Lord. —Why are we afraid if Jesus is with us? Jesus sleeps, but God - actually - never sleeps: He always sees everything. He is our Father who is watching over His children. It is matter of having faith!
