Gospel text
Mt 5:1-12
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Gospel's Commentary
Today we contemplate Jesus walking uphill to speak to a crowd that wanted to listen to Him. He tells them about the Beatitudes. In this Sermon on the Mount Jesus Himself invites us to live the virtues (poverty, cleanliness of soul, mercy…) with joy and to suffer the slings of life (injustices, sadness…) with patience. _Jesus never promised us a smooth path. But He does guarantee us His help, and the reward for our effort in following Him. Never lose courage!
