Gospel's Commentary
Today the Holy Week begins, which concludes with the celebration of the Paschal Triduum (Holy Thursday – Friday - Saturday). Today, at the Mass, we listen twice to the Gospel. At the beginning, the triumphal arrival of Christ into Jerusalem, proclaimed by the multitude as a King: "Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord." Afterward, the Passion of the Lord according to St. Matthew. During the trial, Jesus confirms to the governor Pontius Pilate that He is King. —Christ ascends the Cross with a crown. But the crown the Romans have given Him has thorns: sacrifice is the actual "touchstone" of love. This is the true way of reigning!
