Liturgical day: Wednesday 17th in Ordinary Time

Gospel text (Mt 13,44-46): «Again the kingdom of heaven is like a trader who is looking for fine pearls. Once he has found a pearl of exceptional quality, he goes away, sells everything he has and buys it». Jesus said to the crowds, «The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. The one who finds it buries it again; and so happy is he, that he goes and sells everything he has, in order to buy that field.

»Again the kingdom of heaven is like a trader who is looking for fine pearls. Once he has found a pearl of exceptional quality, he goes away, sells everything he has and buys it».

Today we have another image of the Kingdom of Heaven: the fine pearl. A "fine pearl" looks like something much appreciated. In this case, Jesus adds "of great value." That is, right there we find a lot of "added value" (as we would say in the business world).

- We should not be living in a cloud without looking down at the earth (because we would stumble), but we do not have to forget the Heaven either (not to get lost). Is it Heaven your truly "added value"?
