Gospel text
Mt 21:33-43
"The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes?"
Gospel's Commentary
Today the parable is addressed particularly to the priests and notables of Israel. They are the farmers of the vineyard, that is, the shepherds of the people whom the owner (God) has put in their care. They have erased one prophet after another ... In the end, even Jesus Christ, the "cornerstone." His precious Blood poured out by those "homicidal farmers", thanks to His divine Love, has become a drink of salvation for us all. - There we have it: in the Holy Mass! What the Lord has done is wonderful!
