Gospel text
Lk 21:5-19
While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings, Jesus said, "All that you see here— the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."
Gospel's Commentary
Today, as in other days of November, the Church reproduces the discourse of Jesus Christ about the end of time. There overlap descriptions about the end of the Temple of Jerusalem and the end of the time of this world. What happened in Jerusalem happened exactly as Jesus predicted: in the year 70 the Roman troops did not leave "one stone upon another." That "first ending" is an image of the other "ending." - All this should not be cause for concern, but for hope. The power of God will renew everything. Meanwhile, «not a hair of your head will perish. Through perseverance you will possess your own selves».
