Liturgical day: January 25th: Conversion of Paul, apostle

Gospel text (Mk 16,15-18): Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them, «Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation». Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them, «Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; the one who refuses to believe will be condemned. Signs like these will accompany those who have believed: in my Name they will cast out demons and speak new languages; they will pick up snakes and, if they drink anything poisonous, they will be unharmed. They will lay their hands on the sick and they will be healed».

Today we remember Jesus’ last words to His Apostles. At that time, St. Paul was not yet part of the group of the Apostles. He joined them later on, after his conversion. And he complied to the letter the apostolic demand. Paul, throughout three long trips, went round half world to preach Christ. This is why he is the "Apostle of the people”.

—It took many years for Saul to meet Jesus. You, probably, have known Him since you were small. So you have time to go with Jesus Christ many more miles than St. Paul!
