May 3rd: Feast of Saints Philip and James, Apostles
Gospel text
Jn 14:6-14
Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father."
Gospel's Commentary
Today the Gospel refers to those intimate conversations Jesus Christ had with the Apostles, where He revealed His person and mission. Responding to Philip, Jesus totally opens His Heart: Jesus Christ is in the Father and the Father is in Jesus Christ. This is God! We reach the Father through His Son. Follow Him and you will find yourself within the Holy Trinity! -It is famous St. James’ phrase: "Faith without works is dead" Therefore: follow Him, but follow Him truly, with works.
