Gospel text
Lk 7:18b-23
The disciples of John told him about all these things. John summoned two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we are surprised by John’s question. For he actually knows that Jesus is the Messiah: he had baptized Him and had indicated Him as the Savior. But now the Baptist wants his followers to go to Jesus Christ. It is as if he says:-I am only the precursor; He is the Savior. Go to Him and ask Him directly, stay with Him... --Your parents, your catechist... speak with you about Jesus. But you yourself have to go to Him and remain with Him.
