Gospel text (Lk 8:19-21): “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.” The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

Today the words of Jesus have consequences because they come from afar. In the antiquity the love of God was centered on animal sacrifices. This was just a shadow of the true worship. God does not need animals, and sins can’t be erased with the animal’s blood. How many times do we make "sacrifices" and it turns out that it is not what my parents or brothers need? Nor is it what God expects, because those are "sacrifices" that "sacrifice" (annoy) others.

"Do you really want to honor God?" Adjust yourself to His will. Where is His will? In His Word... and in your prayer. We will all win! And you will be brother (even "mother") of Jesus!
