Gospel text (Lk 21:1-4): When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest." When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins. He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”

Today we feel Jesus’s proximity: He sees everything! Nothing escapes His loving gaze. No one noticed that poor woman, much less her donation. No one! But Jesus is captivated by her. What she has given is a "treasure" for God.

-Where is the "trick"? The others gave "those others have all made offerings... but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood." Simply EVERYTHING, that is, herself. Before God quantity doesn’t count, but yourself!
