Gospel text (Mk 6:53-56):
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.
After making the crossing to the other side of the sea, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret and tied up there. As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.

Today, Jesus has sailed across the lake of Genesaret. When He put His foot on the shore people from all over the place gathered to meet Him. Healing was available for all, no matter what they might be suffering from! They only had to touch Him! They did not even need to tell Him what their sorrows were!
-Look: “they asked Him to let them touch…” How much have things changed! Now, in the Eucharist, we not only touch Him but we also “eat Him”. And we touch not only His Humanity but also His Divinity. And, He tells us all, “Come unto me”. Jesus is longing to embrace you!
