Gospel text
Mt 9:36—10:8
At the sight of the crowds, Jesus’ heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.
Gospel's Commentary
Today we share with Jesus this feeling of dejection when we see so many people indifferent to God. They have good hearts, but the light of Christmas has not deeply entered their hearts. It's a mystery! Why do I see, and others do not? There is no theoretical answer. But we do have a "practical" response: Jesus called his disciples, gave them power to heal every disease, and sent them to the people. —What kind of power is this? Our joy and our smile, because we know that the Son of God has come to save us.
