Guardian Angels
EDITORIAL TEAM evangeli.net (based on texts by Saint John Paul II) (Città del Vaticano, Vatican)Today, we celebrate the memory of the Guardian Angels. The Church, illuminated by the light that comes from Sacred Scripture, has professed throughout the centuries the truth about the existence of angels as purely spiritual beings, created by God. They are endowed with intelligence and free will, like man but to a greater degree than he. Angels are therefore personal beings and, as such, they are also "image and likeness" of God.
The Church, every day and every hour, in the whole world, before beginning the Eucharistic prayer in the heart of the Holy Mass, appeals “to the Angels and the Archangels” to sing the glory of God three times holy, joining thus to those first worshipers of God, in the devotion and loving knowledge.
—The Church believes and teaches, based on Sacred Scripture, that the task of the good angels is the protection of men and the request for their salvation. The “Acts of the Apostles” make us know especially some episodes that testify to the angels' request for man and his salvation.
