Today’s Gospel for the family
Liturgical day: Saturday of the Second Week of Advent
Gospel text (Mt 17:10-13): As they were coming down from the mountain, the disciples then asked Jesus, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
Today, Jesus Christ explains to us that the Prophet Elijah and John the Baptist had similar lives. In his time, Elijah defended with great energy the God of Israel - the true God – against all false gods that men had invented.
-John the Baptist paved the way for Jesus. But neither the people of this world recognize the people of God, nor do the arrogant people of our earth recognize the divinity of Jesus Christ. Jesus-God only asks you to receive Him with joy, just as the shepherds of Bethlehem did.
