Gospel text (Mk 6:53-56): After making the crossing to the other side of the sea, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret (…). People immediately recognized him (…) wherever they heard he was. Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.

The miracles: God continues being God

EDITORIAL TEAM evangeli.net (based on texts by Benedict XVI) (Città del Vaticano, Vatican)

Today, the Gospel gives explicit evidence —although with no details— about the miracles that were performed while the Son of God was just going by, even if only touching the edge of His cloak. Does God still perform miracles today? Christian faith affirms that God exerts His power over the world and can actually perform miracles (which are like His "private language").

We only know the laws of nature as rules of thumb; ultimately, we cannot define what is nature, nor the scope of the natural laws. But God, after ending the creation, did not "go away": He can act yet. He still is the Creator, therefore, He always has the possibility of "intervention". God continues being God!, so —whenever He wants and if good enough for the world, when He prefers— He can present Himself before the world as the Creator and the Lord.

—The topic about miracles implies the divine matter: anyone who does not recognize the miracles has another image of God.
