Dear friends and readers of evangeli.net:

With great sorrow and at the same time with sound heart we inform you that Mr Claudi Rey García, one of the most veteran members of our volunteer team, passed away last Saturday. Veteran because of his age (he was almost 92 and so the “senior” of evangeli.net) and because of the long time he has devoted to our service.

Since 2003 his collaboration has been indefatigable. To him we owe the merit of fully carrying out “Contemplating today’s Gospel” in English, published from the contents of the Spanish edition “Contemplar el Evangelio de hoy”. This meant hundreds – probably thousands - of translating hours (conscientiously made) when our English service barely had a dozen followers, always working with good humour and optimism. When “Contemplating today’s Gospel” finally reached 100 subscriptions (after 29 months of hard work), this was a true feast: the celebration consisted of going on translating more and with greater joy.  Thanks to his work the English edition has actually about 10.000 subscribers and the web page receives more than 165.000 visits monthly. At the end of his journey Claudi had translated, among commentaries and newsletters, more than 1.000 texts.

The best part is that Claudi, while he is resting in the House of the Father, will continue to “work” for God in this world… since the texts he has translated will go on being read/prayed for many years by many people. We pray God He may grant Claudi the special reward He gives the apostles of his Word!
