Faith and reason: the habit of accepting only “factual”

EDITORIAL TEAM evangeli.net (based on texts by Benedict XVI) (Città del Vaticano, Vatican)

Today, Jesus laments the unbelief of the leaders of the Jewish people: for their prejudices, they did not believe in the Baptist and the Lord. Our times are not free from mental prejudices (it disables the faith): there are people unable to see beyond the factual; they can only continue to think in terms of the factual. It just looks so palpable! And from a metaphysical point of view, the person becomes more stupid.

By taking this road, the person is incapable of leaping towards the mystery, and drowns in the merely factual. Whoever fails to perceive the mystery that prevails in the facts of nature or history fills his head and heart with a lot of things that perhaps unable him for spiritual depth and breadth.

-It is inconsistent to state: “Only the factual is valid” (palpable). The same statement is “meta-physical” (meaning, beyond the physical, “factum”). Wisdom is proven by his “children”, meaning, by their acts!
