Conversion: man accepts to depend upon the true Creator
EDITORIAL TEAM evangeli.net (based on texts by Benedict XVI) (Città del Vaticano, Vatican)Today, while mulling over the reaction of the second brother, we noticed that "conversion" means more than a simple rectification; it implies a much deeper significance: it is not human self-realization and man is not the architect of his own life. And he accepts his dependence on the true Creator; he accepts that this dependence is true freedom and that the freedom of autonomy emancipated from the Creator is not freedom, but illusion and deception.
"To be converted” means: to accept the suffering of truth. Conversion demands that truth, faith, love become, not in a general way, but day by day, more important than our physical life, or than comfort, success, prestige and tranquility in our lives. In fact, success, prestige, tranquility and ease are false gods which largely impede truth and true progress in private and in public life.
—O Lord, when I accept this primacy of truth I am loading up with my Cross and I partake the culture of love, which is the culture of the Cross.
