Today's Gospel + short theological explanation

Gospel text (Mt 18:12-14): Jesus said to his disciples, “What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray. In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost.”

The Author of the Sacred Scripture

Today, listening to Christ we capture more than human words: by listening to them, we get a glimpse of God’s “heart”. The Words of Jesus, words written by Matthew, words of divine attainment. The Holy Scripture is not simple human literature: it has emerged as living subjects on the way to the People of God.

Three subjects interact in the "Bible". 1st The group of authors to whom we owe the writing of the various books that make up the Scripture. 2nd These authors are not independent writers, but are part of the common subject; "People of God": they speak from Him and to Him to the point that the People are the "authors" of the Scripture. 3rd These People are not self sufficient, but are guided by God Himself who, in reality, speaks through men and humanity.

—In the People of God, the Church as a living subject of Scripture, the words of the "Bible" are always a presence of the living God.
