“Redemption” makes truth recognizable

EDITORIAL TEAM evangeli.net (based on texts by Benedict XVI) (Città del Vaticano, Vatican)

Today, true and erroneous opinions are mixed up in the world. Truth isn’t visible in all its magnitude. However, the world is only “true” when it reflects God, the eternal Reason from which it was originated. And man makes himself true if he turns out to resemble God.

The “non-redemption” of the world consists, precisely, in the illegibility of Creation, in the unrecognizability of truth; which necessarily leads to the dominance of pragmatism and then the law of the jungle becomes the “god” of this world. In the great mathematics of Creation, that we can read today in the human genetic code, we understand God’s language, but not the whole of His language. The functional truth about man has become visible. But the truth about oneself and about moral goodness cannot be read this way.

—“Redemption” makes truth recognizable. And it becomes recognizable if we can recognize God: He makes Himself known in Christ Crucified.
