Today's Gospel + short theological explanation
When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore; but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?” They answered him, “No.” So he said to them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat and you will find something.” So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in because of the number of fish.
So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad, and jumped into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards, dragging the net with the fish. (…). This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead.
Christ remains in us
Fr. Joan Ant. MATEO i García (Tremp, Lleida, Spain)Today, Jesus resurrected meets His friends; He gathers them and comforts them with His company. John, who dearly loved the Lord, intuitively knows it’s Him. But all the rest sense that they are in the presence of Christ, because they have seen how— confiding in His Word— their work has attained remarkable results.
Like at the beginning of Christianity, Jesus Christ does not leave us alone. When we celebrate the Holy Eucharist He becomes present among us, in a very special way, by listening to His Word that comforts us, and also by imbuing our heart with love through His soothing company received in Communion with faith, devotion and cleanness of heart. Without Jesus our life loses its color and joy; with Him, everything is different.
—O Lord, I beg You to open the eyes of my faith so that I know how to comprehend Your presence in my life. That I know how to fully experience the great gift of the Eucharist.
