Gospel text (Jn 15:1-8): Jesus said to his disciples, «(…) I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing (…)».

United in the truth

Fr. Antoni CAROL i Hostench (Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain)

Today, we see Jesus in the Cenacle, surrounded by the Apostles, in an atmosphere of special confidence. He is giving them His last counsel before His Passion. Now, we hear the exhortation for unity with the Word that He has proclaimed. Once again, Jesus refers to His Father in Heaven. A Father who wants to gather us around His Son.

As a good Son, Jesus Christ is the perfect reflection of the Father. He is the "Verb" (Image) of God, His "Word". We attain the Father through the Word. Christ has spoken of Himself, of the Father, of the Holy Spirit, of His Kingdom... And of man! The Church persists in teaching us this Word. The Church does this guided by the Spirit of Truth, which so especially assists the Pope, Vicar of Christ.

—O Lord, who revealed Yourself unto us. I would like to thank You for Your trust with a devoted attention to the teachings of the Church, the Magisterium and the Pope.
