"Signs" in the life of Christ
Fr. Jordi CASTELLET i Sala (Vic, Barcelona, Spain)Today, we are surprised to see Jesus feeding the hungry. It is the little one —a boy— he who gives what he has and offers it to the Apostles, to Christ, to the Church. Jesus bless him and the miracle happens, the sign of the Kingdom: there was plenty for everyone and still with much left over!
Jesus Christ —the Image, the Word of the Father— gathers us around Him. Christ himself becomes our food in the Eucharist. But, previously, He forestalls it with this sign of the multiplication of the loaves. First, He prepares our faith… and then, He gives himself to us in the "mystery of Transubstantiation": Christ, coming into my body, becomes my own body so that I may become His Body, His hands, His eyes, His smile, his stare, His word...
—Lord Jesus Christ, be my life. You, who have in mind the needs of the whole world, you have me so that, with your Grace, I may collaborate in the work for your Kingdom. Amen.
