Dear friends,

We have reached the peak of the liturgical year: Holy Week, with its Paschal Triduum. Our eyes will contemplate impressive images: Jesus sweating blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, the scourging of the Lord, his ascent to Calvary carrying the heavy Cross, the crucifixion itself, the desolation of Holy Mary...

However, what is seen is only a small part of his pain. Yes, he suffered more inside than outside: the true passion of Christ is the one that is not seen; it is the one that made him exclaim - at the gates of Gethsemane - saying, "My soul is sorrowful even to death" (Mt 26:38).

Jesus died in his heart before his body: what torments him inside?; what makes his Blood "boil" within him? Our comments on the Sorrowful Mysteries (evangeli.net Subjects section), inspired mainly by the preaching of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI, delve into the mystery of the pain of the Heart of Jesus Christ.

It will always be a mystery! But the Love of the Holy Trinity concentrated in that Heart that was finally pierced will never cease to amaze us...

Happy Easter Resurrection of the Lord-Jesus!
