Gospel text (Jn 3:16-21): God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.

Jesus, the one and only Saviour, is the Messiah, the very same Son of God prepared to suffer with us

Today we continue to listen to the nighttime conversation that the Jewish teacher, Doctor of Law, Nicodemus had with Jesus Christ. An intimate and profound conversation. Nicodemus sincerely felt the attraction of Jesus: He is a milestone in our history, only someone who comes as God’s representative could work those miracles.

Nicodemus as a true Jew, is guided by the Law of Moses, however like the rest of the people of Israel he awaits the Messiah, the Savior. Jesus helps him to discover undeniable truths. Among others that the Messiah is the very same Son of God, from which proceeds the salvation of the entire world. Only a God who is prepared to suffer with us, by becoming one of us, could offer on our behalf a sacrifice that could be truly pleasing to God to gain our salvation. We know that the Son of God exists and that He is Jesus Christ. We have not been given any other name by which we can be saved.

—Jesus I declare that You are God, and because You are truly God I commend my eternal Salvation to You.
