Gospel text (Jn 3:31-36): The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard...

Supernatural Life

Fr. Antoni CAROL i Hostench (Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain)

Today, Jesus tells us of His background and at the same time tells us of our destiny. He comes from above from eternal heaven, where He has always existed united with the Father and the Holy Spirit. There also is our most authentic life. The Son of God came to reveal this Marvel, but it is difficult for us to detach ourselves from this World and awaken our aspiration to eternity.

Since his origins man has been in awe of death and life beyond that of this Earth. But in reality little did we know of the “life above” and what it entails. With the incarnation of the Son of God the real life has been revealed to us, the most authentic; the life of friendship with God, who is “supernatural” and therefore without end, only life on Earth ends.

— I want to live, My God, in a life of friendship with You. Allow me an understanding of things as You understand them, and to love as You love, Jesus I trust in Your Word.
